Art begins in the wild—this studio brings it to life

Shaped by seasons, stories, and the slow unfolding of process

The Studio

My creative process begins far beyond these four walls—on wooded trails, at the edge of the sea, and in overgrown fields where wildflowers bloom freely. I gather and press botanicals in the wild, often carrying a portable flower press (or a book) in my backpack while hiking or beach-combing. Nature is my first studio.

But here, in this light-filled space nestled beneath the pines in Camden, Maine, is where it all comes together. It’s where I lay out dried petals, design new work, and bring my collections to life. Built with care, this studio marks a turning point in my journey with Forage & Press. After years of creating in borrowed corners, I now have a dedicated space to grow and deepen my practice.

“Sometimes, we’re so busy building the dream that we forget we’re already living it. Take a breath. Look around. You might be standing inside something you once only imagined.”

In this small but intentional space, I press flowers by hand, sketch out ideas for new collections, design product lines, and work on commissioned artwork. It’s a space for making—not just art, but meaning. A place to be still, to listen, and to translate the natural world into something lasting.

The studio holds thoughtful touches: a handmade workbench built by a friend, using drawers from my grandfather’s old tool chest. My surfboard—the FG Board—hangs on the wall, a reminder that the ocean is just as much a part of my creative rhythm as the forest.

It may be small, but it holds something big: the future of Forage & Press, shaped by place, memory, and the wild things I gather along the way.
